TIG welders for edge welds
Precision TIG machines for thin sheet and edge weld applications.

Description
A weld made on the edges of two or more members, typically thin sheets placed parallel with their edges aligned. The weld fuses the edges together without significant penetration into the body of the members. Limited to thin materials.
In plain English
You stack two thin sheets together with their edges lined up, then run a weld along those edges to fuse them together. There is no groove prep -- you are just melting the edges into each other. Only works on thin stuff (typically under 3 mm) because you cannot get much penetration. Used for sealing edges of sheet metal assemblies, corner joints on thin gauge enclosures, and similar light-duty applications. Not a structural weld for anything carrying real loads.
Symbol position
Modified square symbol (two parallel lines with caps) on the reference line.
Size notation
Weld size (depth) shown if needed. Length to the right.
Common uses
- Sealing edges of sheet metal assemblies
- Thin gauge enclosure corner joints
- Muffler and exhaust component fabrication
